Mrs McGinty's Dead - Agatha Christie

Mrs McGinty's Dead - Agatha Christie

In a nutshell :

As the title say, Mrs McGinty is dead, she has been killed in her own house - Who is the murderer?

Criticism :

This is another investigation for Hercule Poirot, and a classical one. There is a murdered woman known as Mrs McGinty and a suspect : James Bentley, who is lodging in her house. The crime is grotesque because only £30 has been stolen, which is not a strong motive to kill someone. What if the main suspect is innocent? Hercule Poirot ensures that the man isnt hanged, if he is innocent of the murder of Mrs McGinty. So, Poirot investigates to find out if the suspect is truely innocent. This investigation isn't very original, but the story contains those little details that made Agatha Christie a popular writer, such as: a good story with interesting characters and a surprising end. The language used is old fashioned compared to the modern English, but it gives an undeniable touch of outmoded charm.

In conclusion, this investigation is good but there is nothing really original to make this book worth reading more than another one.
